Superintendent Carmen García created a Long Range Development planning team in March 2023. She brought together a diverse group of community members and district leadership and expert planners to collaborate with a focus on the future. We are all united under one District umbrella to do the work of addressing change with a focus on equity, growth, and local opportunities for all students, families, and staff.
As MHUSD families know, our District is already experiencing a variety of challenges, including old sites with aging infrastructure; some campus facilities are not supporting the district’s vision for educational delivery, and we are competing with surrounding Districts rebuilding facilities. In response, we developed a strategic Long Range Development Plan so MHUSD may thrive.
Our team emphasized an inclusive, participatory process for a wide range of input. We facilitated focus groups with educational leadership, teachers, students, and staff. Visioning workshops were held with School Site Committees at each campus in March 2023. Community Forums with the broader community provided further input on campus plans. This robust process created a shared vision and strategies to evolve our learning environments, support our communities, and look to the future.
Three Holistic Frameworks
Buildings and Land Use Framework includes strategic development and building renewal plans to advance our academic mission.
Sustainability Framework adopts energy use strategies to advance State and institutional goals to address a range of energy issues.
Equity Framework ensures all campuses have projects in the first phase and we target the campuses that need projects most.
